First reviews of Beastly London

I have to say I’m relieved – sending a new book (baby) into the wild world is a nerve-wracking time. But, so far, reviewers have been kind – Beastly has been featured in Country Life and in The Oldie as a recommended read.

Two reviews can be read online – one from Londonist.com and the other at historyvault.co.uk

I’ve also written an article for the newly redesigned historicalhoney.com, introducing my top 7 animals of London’s past, and a piece for Farmers Weekly about livestock at Smithfield.

My twitter account @hannahvelten is proving to be great for meeting like minded individuals who share my animal history passion – for example, I’m involved with a group bringing together a collection of photographs and tales of pets at sea (#petsatsea)

And I’ve updated my website to include most of this information – www.hannahvelten.com

I have to admit I love researching and writing, but not having to promote myself or my books; I suspect this is true of most writers. But we have to do it, and I’m slowly getting the hang of it! I still haven’t ventured down the path of giving talks; perhaps that is something for next year…
